Carla Bruni Effortlessly Chic in Safari Dress and Diamond Earrings

Presidents come and go, but there is only one Carla Bruni. The first lady of France is currently on a state visit to Israel with her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The Bruni effect was felt on the couple’s arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport. Carla Bruni looked effortlessly chic in a tan colored safari dress, sandals with curious looking beetle-shaped precious stones that might have been diamonds, and a matching handbag.

As the first lady of France walked from the aircraft down the red carpet and her hair tossed in the gentle summary breeze, the glitter of a pair of stud diamond earrings could clearly be seen under her brunette hair.
Carla Bruni has apparently disappointed Tel Aviv residents who were hoping to catch a glimpse of the first lady, model and heiress. Ms. Bruni will be shopping for a new outfit in Jerusalem. While in Israel she would be well advised to shop for accessories, in a country that is regarded as a world center for diamond jewelry and diamond engagement rings.

Fancies Auction Fetches Staggering Prices

Filed under: News & Reviews — johnm @ 12:05 pm

In a record breaking auction as Sotheby’s a 3.73 carat fancy blue vivid diamond fetched a staggering $4.95. Fancy colors are rare and often attract high prices. Other fancies were also sold at the same auction, including a vivid purplish pink diamond ring, and a fancy light pink diamond ring. Rare antique diamond jewelry was also auctioned on the same day.

I think fancies are extraordinary in their beauty and uniqueness. It’s incredible to think what thousands of years of geological pressure and lead to an extraordinary creation of nature that can then be placed in an engagement ring.

Is Kate Hudson Getting Married?

Filed under: News & Reviews — johnm @ 9:43 am

It seems like wedding season is in full swing in tinsel town. This time it’s the turn of pretty Kate Hudson, who is rumored to be marrying Mr. funny nice guy himself, Owen Wilson. As usual, the rumors started by someone spotting the possible bride to be wearing a diamond engagement ring.

Industry insiders have denied the rumor, saying the diamond ring was in fact a prop for Hudson’s upcoming “Bride Wars.”

Both actors are busy. Owen Wilson recently started in the warmly received oddball comedy Darjeeling Limited, whereas Hudson appeared alongside Mathew McConaughey in the poorly received “Fool’s Gold.”

Gold Prices Surge

Filed under: News & Reviews — admin @ 3:53 am

The hazy days of gold trading at the psychological barrier of $500 an ounce seems little but a distant memory as gold hit the $600 mark for the first time since 1980.

According to Reuters, gold, which has gained 16 percent this year and 41 percent in the past 12 months, hit $604 an ounce before falling back to $599.25.

Concerns about inflation, tension in the Middle East and uncertainty over the value of the U.S. dollar have all contributed to the price of gold more than doubling in the past four years.

But gold is not the only metal trading at record highs. Silver rose to $13.01 an ounce, a 23-year high, while copper exceeded $6,000 a ton.

Oil prices also surged to reach $69 a barrel, and the $70 mark line is no longer a far fetched idea
